POSTCARDS
Throughout my art practice, the journey and process have always been of greater importance than the destination or final piece. In the process of creating these works, I reflect that sentiment by implementing it in more areas of my life.
I noticed myself constantly numbing my senses when in transitory / liminal spaces. Any flight or bus ride would consist of me playing some mindless mobile game or doom-scrolling. While it provided temporary dopamine and acted as a comfortable distraction from reality, I felt like my life was passing by me via unintentional media consumption.
To resolve this issue, I began carrying some paper and a pen around with me everywhere. Whenever I’d find myself in a liminal moment where I would usually go on my phone, I drew instead. Often this was while waiting for the tube home after a night out, or first thing in the morning waiting for my bus to work, or even in the waiting room for a doctor’s appointment.
The abstract drawings that emerged merged elements from my surroundings and my subconscious. The shape of someone’s shoe, the shadows in someone’s sleeve. All these unnoticed pieces of beauty morph together to create these organic, fluid forms.
The drawings grew into a large collection of ‘postcards’. Easy to share and transport like postcards are, they can be arranged together, forming coincidental connections like below, or displayed separately. While traditional postcards glorify ‘destinations’, these postcards appreciate the journey.

Rearranged
Rearranged is a virtual layer added to Postcards. It utilises Meadow's AR and interactive capabilities to allow users to rearrange the drawings from the Postcards series virtually. Users can be as creative as they like and form their own compositions.
